- Email address — if you create an account via email link authentication
- Game scores and quiz results — to power leaderboards and track your progress
- Device information — anonymized technical data for crash reporting and performance
Guest users who do not create an account provide no personal information. All guest data is stored locally on your device only.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and manage your account securely
- To display leaderboards and score rankings
- To improve app performance and fix bugs
- To send transactional emails (sign-in links only — no marketing)
3. Third-Party Services
TuneGenius uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and cloud data storage. Firebase Privacy Policy
- iTunes/Apple Music API — music metadata and 30-second previews. No personal data is sent to Apple via this API.
- AdMob (Google) — advertising for free-tier users. Google Privacy Policy
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore, hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure in the European Union. We apply industry-standard security measures including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Firestore security rules limiting access to your own data only
- No storage of passwords (we use passwordless email link authentication)
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
